Newborns: we will photograph in your home and neighborhood. I find that new parents (and babies) are most at peace in their home environment. All your gear will be close at hand, plus you’ll get images of the space that reflects you best. My equipment is capable of making even a basement apartment look lovely (Don’t believe me? The right to the right came from a walk-in basement apartment!)

Toddlers: We can photograph in your home or in a park. Either way, expect that we will take all our “everyone look at the camera” photos in the first 20 minutes. Then we’ll transition to dance parties, races, tickle fights, bubbles, and knock-knock jokes!

Newborns: My favorite baby photos include a blanket (hidden diaper) and nothing else! I will bring a few simple swaddles with me. Please feel free to pull out your favorites too. I find my postpartum mothers seem most comfortable and confident in dresses, particularly dresses that gather below the bust and hang long and loose.

Families: I recommend avoiding clothing with logos, dense patterns, and black or bright colors. Bright colors often cast strange glows on the skin (no one wants green skin in their family portraits!). Do opt for comfortable clothing that you allows you to move easily. Light colors and chunky textures photograph particularly well. Always try to coordinate, not match.

Newborns: Our two hour window gives us ample time for diaper changes, feeds, and snuggles. We will work together to keep your baby as happy as possible!

Toddlers: As the mother of two toddlers, I get it! Kids get in strange moods and we can’t always control it. As a mom and a photographer, I have a few tricks up my sleeve. I’ll seek to connect to your child through play, unexpected misdirection, silly prompts, and (sometimes) switching focus off the kids.

I always encourage parents—your attitude is infectious! If you are stressed, it will be very hard for your kids to relax. Try to release the coaching to me and focus on getting yourself into a playful and joyful mood.

I deliver edited photos 5-15 days after our photoshoot. You will receive a USB thumb drive with all the images as well as a small, flexible photo book designed for little hands flip through.

Mini sessions are designed for families who want a handful of images for a holiday card.

Full sessions allow us the time and space to choose a unique location, focus on each member of your family, and settle into the natural joy of play.
